Jewish Festivals

Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year. It lasts two days and commemorates the creation of the world.

Yom Kippur means Day of Atonement. It is considered by Jews to be the holiest and most solemn day of the year

Hanukkah or Chanukah is the Jewish Festival of Lights. It is a special time for children. They play with a spinning top called a Dreidel. Gifts and money are exchanged.

Passover is the Jewish festival of freedom and redemption. Jewish people remember how the children of Israel left slavery behind them when they were led out of Egypt by Moses.

Jews worship in Synagogues. A Jewish Religious leader is called a Rabbi
